Transparency Rising, a trusted, not-for-profit coalition dedicated to improving drug pricing, is thrilled to announce its newest member, CivicaScript. They join a growing network of transparent pharmacy benefit managers, industry experts and stakeholders united in a non-partisan effort to drive positive changes within the healthcare industry.

“We’re excited to have CivicaScript join our coalition and strengthen our shared commitment to transparency, competition, and lowering healthcare costs,” said Transparency Rising CEO Joe Shields. “As a nonprofit pharmaceutical company, CivicaScript is already delivering on its mission to make generic medicines and biosimilars affordable and accessible, and its approach reinforces that transparency can work better for patients and employers. Together, our members are challenging the status quo and advancing meaningful reforms across the PBM landscape.”

Through its cost‑plus business model, CivicaScript provides prescription generics and biosimilars at the lowest sustainable cost, generating meaningful savings for both payers and patients. Its unique maximum recommended price (MaxRP®) policy helps ensure patients pay a fair price for their medications while offering unmatched visibility into drug pricing.

“Advancing transparency across the pharmacy landscape has demonstrated meaningful cost reductions for patients and payers,” said CivicaScript President Brent J. Eberle. “CivicaScript is working to transform the generic and biosimilars marketplace by maximizing transparency, and we’re thrilled to be part of an organization that embraces the same values. We look forward to working with Transparency Rising to demonstrate the power of collaboration, as we focus on making medicines affordable and available to all who need them.”

Since September 2023, Transparency Rising has actively pursued legislative solutions aimed at reducing drug costs and reforming outdated practices that negatively impact patients and businesses. These efforts include banning spread pricing, instituting a 100% pass-through model for savings, de-linking PBM revenues from the price of medications, and requiring transparency with patients, insurers, pharmacists, and other stakeholders.
