Organization formerly known as Transparency-Rx has grown to more than 21 members and affiliated companies, representing over 20 million covered lives
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 28, 2026 — Transparency Rising, formerly known as Transparency-Rx, today announced its new name and the next phase of its national mission to lower prescription drug costs, build a more competitive pharmacy care marketplace, and establish sound drug policy built on trust, integrity, and insight.
In less than four years, Transparency Rising has grown to more than a dozen pharmacy benefit management (PBM) members and a total of 21 affiliated companies, representing more than 20 million covered lives. With a rapidly expanding national footprint, Transparency Rising is led by licensed, transparent PBMs, which are joined by a growing cross-section of innovators, partners, and champions across the pharmaceutical and healthcare marketplace.
“Transparency Rising reflects both the progress we have made and the hard work still ahead,” said Joseph M. Shields, Esq., CEO of Transparency Rising. “The market is changing rapidly because patients, employers, pharmacists, policymakers, and taxpayers need something better than opaque contracting, hidden compensation, restricted access, and misaligned incentives. Transparency is not a marketing slogan — it is the new health and pharmacy care standard. Our members are helping to lead that historic transformation with discipline, credibility, and a steadfast commitment to true net cost, pass-through economics, open data, and measurable value.”
Transparency Rising remains the only association of its kind: a nonpartisan, national platform committed to institutionalizing transparent pharmacy benefit models and advancing a fairer, more competitive, and innovative prescription drug marketplace.
The organization is focused on advancing transparent benefit models and supporting innovation through technology and data. As part of its unique mission, Transparency Rising builds trusted partnerships with key stakeholders, including community pharmacies, to advance dynamic patient adherence strategies and broader access to high-value biosimilar and biotechnology therapies. In addition, Transparency Rising is working closely with partners to elevate nutrition as an essential part of improving patient health outcomes.
Transparency Rising’s work extends across a growing cross-section of the pharmaceutical and healthcare supply chain, including employers, policymakers, patients, pharmacists, manufacturers, benefits consultants and advisors, TPAs, health technology leaders, biosimilar and biotechnology leaders, adherence innovators, nutrition partners, and other market stakeholders.
“Our goal is not transparency for its own sake,” Shields added. “The goal is a market that works better for all stakeholders. That means lower costs, fairer competition, clearer standards, and more transparent contracting. Fundamentally, we are driving to a national commitment to true net cost as the foundation for prescription drug value.”
